You may be able to retire to Margaritaville.
Jimmy Buffett.
His songs evoke a sense of rest and relaxation.
When listening, you can imagine being totally carefree, even as you avoid stepping on an occasional pop-top.
These are things everyone desires in retirement (pop-top injuries excepted).
According to a recent Washington Post article titled “Adopting a laid-back attitude at Latitude Margaritaville,” a Jimmy Buffett inspired retirement community is being built.
Margaritaville inspired, specifically.
Jimmy Buffett has had a hand in developing this senior paradise.
What does this community include?
The houses will resemble homes in Key West.
The streets will have beach inspired names including Flip Flop Court, St. Somewhere Drive, and Coral Reef Way.
Do you have a dog?
You can bring your pup to a Barkaritaville spa.
Enjoy exercise?
Hit up the Fins Up! Fitness Center.
Want to go for a swim?
Jump into the Paradise Pool.
Need a place to do some work or take some classes?
You can at the Workin’ and Playin’ Center.
Want to be entertained?
You can see a show at the Last Mango Theater or watch a concert at the Latitude Town Square.
There will also be food and drink at the Latitude Bar and Chill or the Changes in Attitude bar.
A partnership with Halifax Health will allow for onsite health education and checkups.
Is there anything missing?
Perhaps.
It does not boast its own golf course.
Do not fret though.
The LPGA International Golf course is across the street.
Eighteen other courses are also nearby.
Where will it be located?
Latitude Margaritaville is in Daytona Beach near Interstates 95 and 4.
This means you could easily drive to St. Augustine or Orlando.
A VA outpatient center and three hospitals are nearby.
Does this sound pretty good to you?
You are not alone.
Many Jimmy Buffett fans are reaching retirement and seeking an active and fun community.
In fact, more than 100,000 people have inquired into buying a place here.
More than 225 have already made a purchase.
This development will take about a decade to complete with about 7,000 homes.
If you are interested, it is never too early to begin planning.
