Brad Pitt has updated his estate plan.
Divorce is not pretty.
Especially when you and are your ex are celebrities.
Your marital issues—although common—become more public.
Others will know your wise and unwise choices.
According to a recent Wealth Advisor article titled “Even Brad Pitt Has Prepared A Will (And A Post-Divorce Trust),” Brad Pitt made a wise estate planning decision.
Brad Pitt chose to create an estate plan to ensure his children received his assets rather than his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
Although some of his assets will go to Angelina in the divorce for the settlement and child support, Pitt wanted to protect the rest.
To do so, he has created a trust to deposit millions for his children Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Know, and Vivienne.
These funds will be untouchable by Angelina.
The divorce has been ugly thus far.
Pitt is taking steps to make sure his estate is not nearly as messy.
If you are going through a divorce or have been divorced, work with an experienced estate planning attorney to ensure your assets are neither controlled by nor left to your ex.
