Unreleased music brings complications into estates.
Tupac was an icon in hip-hop.
He found success in life through his music.
The songs he released were enjoyed by many.
According to a recent The New York Daily News article titled “Unreleased Tupac music returned to his estate after drawn-out legal battle,” he did not release all of his songs.
This sparked a lawsuit after his death.
In 2013, the estate of Tupac accused the Entertainment One Company of holding onto his unheard master tracks as well as retaining royalties to some of his music.
The royalties withheld were worth seven figures for the Beginnings: The Lost Tapes album from 2007.
The result?
The unreleased recordings will be returned to the estate of Tupac.
Although the estate will not recover seven figures in royalties, they will receive a nice six-figure sum.
Will the estate release the tracks to the public?
It is not known at this time.
